Also called bangu. A drum with a thick wooden frame. The membrane is smaller than its external appearance suggests. The tone quality is shrill, and a tremolo performance style is characteristic. The performer usually pays paiban with the left hand while playing the danpigu with the right. One of the main instruments in dramatic accompaniment styles.
