sugarpalm stalk; L. 9.0cm
lamella: L. 3.2cm

A lamella for producing sound is cut from a pice of sugar cane bark. The back surface of the instrument is placed tightly against the lips, and a sound is made by inhaling and exhaling. When played in ensemble its rhythmic patterns are similar to those of the kecak. It is usually used together with genggong to accompany tari kodok, in which case it imitates the sound of a frog.
